Patchy, blotchy skin?

Standard

Hello, hello guys, what’s up? Nothing very much up for me 😦 No rains, muggy heat and laptop acting up. Dang.

I have had my friends asking me about what they can do for pigmented, patchy, spotty skin. Hyper-pigmentation affects both men and women but it’s us women who get hyper about it 😀 It’s not pretty and apparently, you can only lighten the marks and cannot cure it. Crap. There are some excellent, new cutting-edge laser treatments which are reputedly very effective. Please look online for more info 🙂

Let’s try a few things at home to see if we can get a smoother, even skin tone.

Up your water intake. But you don’t have to be a camel and store up all at one time, in the morning 😀 Space it out. Aim for at least 8 glasses of plain water daily. If you find it hard, then do this: add a couple of teaspoons of plain yogurt to a liter of water. Salt is optional. You can add mint, fresh coriander, some grated ginger and roasted cumin seed powder too. Shake well and drink through out the day 🙂 Infinitely easier on the taste buds than plain water and gets you into the habit of drinking water. Yogurt’s great for the stomach, so you can’t go wrong here. Or add some lemon/lime juice. Don’t make it too sugary. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Take a liver tonic for about a couple of months. Kynotomine or Herbitars are both excellent choices. Both have no contraindications, so breathe easy 🙂

Drink amla juice mixed in water. About 2 tea spoons/capsful should do the trick. Try having it first thing in the morning, before your tea/coffee/milk/brekkie/ciggie. The water can be warm, lukewarm, tepid or room temp.

Apply to your face a little bit of amla juice mixed with a couple of drops of pure almond oil. Mix well and apply. Wash off after an hour. You can leave it on at night and wash off in the morning too. Don’t make it too oily. Go easy on the almond oil.

Mix together 2 teaspoons of plain yogurt and 1 teaspoon honey. Mix well. Store it in the fridge. Keeps for a week at least. Apply and wash off after an hour or so.

Next post, some face scrubs and more home made unguents 🙂
